Mary was with child when she was betrothed to Joseph about 2000 years ago. And not just because she was pregnant. However, they would have had much reason to give up hope. She became pregnant without she was married - then a big scandal! She had an arduous journey ahead of them, because they should register with her fiancé in the home. She lived as a Jew in a difficult environment, because the Romans occupied their territory, controlled and not shy away from access and with a heavy hand. And finally, she lived in a region that was even with their fellow no good reputation and treated again in turmoil. How could Mary be with child still around?
Switzerland is neither occupied nor a place of regular disturbances. The circumstances could not break her confidence. Where does this hope was that? In the first chapter of Luke's Gospel, we can read this: "How glad I am in God! He gave me attention. "They put their hope in God, she felt worthy of the Son of God to give birth. Therefore, there is hope, because Christ was born! Not only for Mary. Through him, God's mercy and transforming power is available to everyone close. God becomes man in the baby of Mary and shows us, giving us in this desperate time, not only can, but provided faithful and leads, if we give him confidence.
