Christmas poem
lit, thoughtfully
I'll go see through the streets,
Everything from so festive.
at the windows, women
Colorful toys decorated pious, one thousand
Little children stand and watch,
If so wonderfully happy still.
And I wander from the walls
up out into the open field,
marvels shining, holy showers!
As so far and still the world!
Stars wrap up the circles
rises from the snow's solitude
how wonderful singing -
O gracious time!
(Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff)
