State of the Union Address in 2010
Last night German time gave Barack Obama his first State of the Nation. While speaking of the 44th President of the United States already has twice before Congress, these speeches were not as a formal speech on the state of the nation.
Total Barack Obama showed once again that he is the best Telemprompter-meter reader in the world. The speech was certainly not bad. Very good is also something else entirely. Hard to believe that Obama is tonight managed to get his poll numbers in the long run from the basement. Especially ultimately include deeds anyway. And that's it the 44th President of the United States as we know not.
The mood among the delegates was quite biased. The most common picture: Democrats with standing ovations, Republicans who remain sitting silent. On some issues, according to a commentator on CNN and many petrified faces were seen among the Democrats.
Here are some observations on this year's speech:
addition to the president himself, are always two other people in a special way at a Glance: The Vice-President, who sits in his capacity as President of the Senate, right behind the President and the Speaker, the next behind the President sits. The current combination is Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi, which in itself is already a serious reason, this question does not even inflict. Joe and Nancy seemed to have adjusted their clothes to each other: he with purple striped tie, with her purple costume.
were particularly disgusting Joe's eyes fell on his head, paired with a permanent stupid grin and constant nod. How one wishes there back the days when Dick Cheney was trying hard not to fall asleep, or gleefully sucked a few sweets. Nancy Pelosi has let her jump up and applaud not hysterical this time, did not happen quite as bad as earlier Nevertheless, the events of this kind popping Pelosi would once again have been a good opportunity for drinking games.
The beginning of the speech was very much in the American pathos with which Obama tried to never be supplying the U.S. Summon Spirit, and to award the country in these difficult times, courage. This caused first standing ovation from both camps. Obama: "we do not we give up, do not quit!"
is absolutely boring the constant complaining about the partisan atmosphere in Washington. Yes, we have heard - and Barack will change that. Especially since he's part of every day helps.
But then followed the first impulse switch, or equal to go to bed, as Barry O. began hacking away at the banks and Wall Street. There are first clear differences among the delegates to recognize: The Democrats can hardly keep enthusiasm, Republicans sit on their hands. The same reaction is seen as Obama lists as his government has responded to the financial crisis. He speaks of tax cuts that brought his administration on its way. When the Republicans do not react on it, he says jokingly: "I thought that I would get on this side of applause." Since even the grin should top Republicans in the House of Representatives, John Boehner.
The same split Reaction is seen as Obama on the stimulus (the stimulus bill) speaks. Obama counts on individual cases where the law has created jobs. Its negative consequences are expected to be swept under the carpet. Judging by the standing ovations are after, but Democrats and Republicans agree that the creation of jobs have the highest priority needs. Obama speaks of a "Jobs Bill" that he wants to see adopted soon. The Republicans seem overly enthusiastic.
side Nancy Pelosi still confuse other Democrats, the chamber of the House with a gym: Some Democrats Jump to frantically at every little applause and celebrate their favorite.
then begins with each Loyal Bushie finally the nausea: No Obama speech without the familiar game "Blame Bush". The last decade of Obama economically called "lost decade". You can not believe his ears.
in areas such as environmental technologies and education policies, countries like India and Germany are identified as role models. Aahh, that's what Americans like to hear - especially those outside of Los Angeles or New York.
Then finally one reason U.S. policy in general may again: Barack calls for the construction of new nuclear power plants! So we commend our European Vacation. Otherwise
brings the issue of environmental protection again very divided Reactions among the delegates out: When Obama calls for a comprehensive environmental law, show the Republicans fixed expressions. Applause, the President of them gets only when he mentioned that some doubt on climate change. Well, in spirit - literally Obama says that some of "the overwhelming scientific evidence on climate change" (ha ha, do you laugh?) Question.
Eingermaßen is bearable again only when Obama is shown as a supporter of free trade. George Bush will be this evening for the first time been proud of his successor.
Then came the issue: The health reform. Obama is quite appealing initial flirtation with the difficulties and political consequences that this project last year brought with it - this especially for him.
Then Obama, however, the advantages are of such a reform - that is from his subjective point of view of course. If you would believe all that, Barack had actually found the perfect health care reform and the question is, how can ever be just a congressman about it. It implies
: Better some reform than none. Well, some botch will also help anyone.
The topic of state deficit appears and that is: "Blame Bush" time!! The Republicans let the few sentences bored endure. Barack grad finds even the size, take at least one trillion U.S. dollars in the deficit on his cap. Pooh, as we are but relieved.
Then something from the category: What interests me my talk from yesterday (or from the campaign)? Obama calls 2011 a three-year partial budget freeze. How nice that McCain has called for the election campaign, while Obama was strongly opposed.
Furthermore künidgt Obama the formation of a "Fiscal Commission" to. So the principle: "If you do not know more, form a committee". Such a Fiscal Commission was yesterday rejected by the Senate. Obama announced this vote with an executive order (Executive Order to circumvent ") When Bush did such things, he was practically the overthrow accused of democracy, but what the heck
Speaking of Bush:.. Was the already long since carved into the pan so there you go with the following section.: "From some on the right, I expect we'll hear a different argument - that if we just make fewer investments in our people, extend tax cuts for wealthiest Americans, eliminate more regulations, and maintain the status quo on health care, our deficits will go away. The problem is, that's what we did for eight years. That's what helped lead us into this crisis. It's what helped lead to these deficits. And we can not do it again look. " time when Obama invokes the next time to let bygones be bygones.
Then Obama says one of them again, re-invent the wheel in Washington to do: less partisan, more transparency, restore confidence among the citizens and so on and so forth. Yawn!
When Obama on the so-called "Earmarks," scolded, so government spending by individual members to hide in any laws, the hypocrisy is outrageous. Who signs for permanent legislation, the full of this stuff is?
While excited about this hypocrisy yet, you could even laugh at the joke of the day, was announced as Barack "I'm not naive."
was beautiful, at least, that Obama said in this section on the behavior of politicians in Washington that he was speaking here on both sides, even to the Democrats. This was sorely needed, because what he criticized at this point, the Democrats have made nonstop from 2001 to 2009.
did in this part of the speech Obama something that is very unusual: it took the Supreme Court targeted. He had tipped a few days ago a law on campaign financing and the decision Barack obviously fit at all. Today is heard widely in the media and read that the conservative judge Samuel Alito his displeasure with Obama's talk was free running, shaking his head and muttered things like "not true" to herself. A knotless Supreme Court line-up, Mr. Bush.
For a foreign policy expert like me, then came the best part: Foreign and security policy. When Obama speaks of America's security and their welfare, I call my last year in memory and in my mind trying to find even a measure Obama, they would have geholften. No way!
I remember when all of his "I apologize-for-me-my-country-and-his-many-mistakes" tour, as Barry O. says he has strengthened the partnerships with countries from the Pacific Ocean, on South Asia to the Arabian Peninsula.
The subject is dealt with Afghanistan, virtually in one sentence: Again, the U.S. withdrawal in 2011 announced. You can hear the motorcades of the Taliban in Kabul, almost.
Then comes Obama to Iraq and talk to my disgust, shaking his head yes shocked almost caused a whiplash: Obama played himself as the Stop the War on Iraq that led U.S. troops to glorious victory. Appropriate it would have been to provide the address of George Bush with a request to send the thank-you note to please there. Reminder: When it came, to leave Iraq in shame and leave the terrorists, or stand up and fight one last time, was Barack for option A, while Bush had his ass in the pants to order Option B.
Then the obligatory and well justified praise to the troops, the deal provoked a standing ovation on both sides.
Next topic: nuclear weapons. Barack speaks again of his (stupid) dream of a nuclear-free world. North Korea and Iran are mentioned in passing. Well, what to say to Barack, where he has since achieved nothing yet! He announced Iran after all "growing consequences" on. Ahmadinejad can certainly hold no fear. Or before Laugh. The issue of Guantanamo
Obama mentioned (probably for safety reasons) with no word. Thus we had at least spared a further apology. Maybe even Obama has now strapped that the Americans not particularly well received.
So I was easy, or shall we say, massively irritated because Barack seemed to be the subject of foreign and security policy. After felt five minutes. Ääähh is, there is not this little thing called "war on terror"? Landing in Detroit or something? Ring a bell what? Or at least a couple of significant announcements on the bin Laden's of this world? Something like "we will get you and first with our soldiers and then with democracy and freedom to break open an ass "?
without words.
America has more important problems than this, because instead of the actual requirement was for the abolition of the principle" do not ask, do not tell "in the U.S. .. Military Republicans with a petrified expression
Then we come full circle Obama ended his speech with the same tenor, which he started it And you have to just love these American pathos -... no matter who it comes from Obama conjures America's ideals and values, talks about his promise to change. That is probably the most anticipated part where he tries rumzureißen his personal bike.'m a tearful "I never said that it would be easy, "he can not resist. There is amazing silence in the room. Pelosi and the Democrats still do not even jump when Obama his" change we can believe in "repeatedly.
clock at 4.20 German time Obama spoke the words: "God bless America"

legislative balance 2006-2010

Review
I was surprisingly elected in 2006 in the constituency tuna. The EPP won a seat on it, and I was a second alternate to Walter Bieri move to Bern. In the current legislative Walter Bieri has resigned and his place is in the constituency tuna Hans Kipfer (then CEO Gwattzentrum) nachgerutscht. And so enter Hans and I in the spring so far as to.
work in the JUKO
over the whole time I was active in one of the standing committees: the Judicial Commission (JUKO). In addition to the regular sessions, I worked in two committees and a special committee. I am a member of the Judiciary Committee and have candidates for all courts Berner each seen and judged. I lead the second committee. This involves the supervision of the Administrative Court (VG). I lead the supervisory visits, determine the topics and questions, and compose a report on the management of the VG. The Special Committee dealt with the reorganization of JUKO on the basis of judicial reform. This second reform in the canton of Bern was the largest project of JUKO in the last four years. I felt honored when I determined the Commission's spokesman for this historic business in the Grand Council. Currently, the reform in full swing. New four court regions arise in the canton.
Personal achievements
In this legislature, I have submitted a total of 14 raids. 2 of them interpellations (questions on debt and computer science) were. With 6 of 12 motions in Parliament, I had success. These were to:
For me personally the bewegenste moment in the entire legislature was to transfer my initiative to the federal government to increase development aid. She was referred by 73:66. I had invested much time, money and effort into this foray. And it is one of the concerns, which is why I am active in politics: global poverty (currently 1'000'000'000 people starving on our planet) to decrease.
debt advice for all
also a great success were the initiatives on debt counseling, "Marc Jost fought successfully to ensure that all people of Berne have access to debt advice. "Wrote the Berner Zeitung. I also managed to ensure that the District needs to work with an existing specialized body in tuna and so dear to avoid duplication.
Christian values promote
great pleasure that I had finally also on a postulate: "wants to strengthen large Council Western Christian values" was the headline, BZ The goal of the postulate is:. A better implementation of the existing curriculum in terms of religious education, and that the Director of Education in the new curriculum 21 starts for the mediation of Western Christian values.
relations in the Great Council
from my personality type is produced, I always saw myself as a mediator. So I try myself in politics again and again to bring as a bridge builder. An important share of this is building relationships and connecting different people. Several political successes were the only way possible (eg, advance development assistance).
