Daily we are currently aware of the situation in Libya in detail. So we know what the standings on terms of the tyrant Khadafi and the state of the Libyan people. Even our oldest has noticed this and asked me recently: "Papa, Khadafi is worse than the King Herod in the Bible." It was even difficult to give these children question the answer. I said that both men had acted extremely brutal and unjust to their own people. "Has the Khadafi for all male babies be put to death in his country?" Asks more my son. Herod is unfortunately not the only one who could be compared with the Libyan despot. Both the Bible and the more recent time history - whether in Germany, Rwanda or former Yugoslavia - have shown that there were always powerful, who saw a particular ethnic group as a threat and "wipe out" they wanted. In such situations, if we can approach for yet we can pay the following questions: How does this happen? If it can not be avoided in the past? What can we now do? And why does God not intervene and stop the brutal and inhuman killings?
Most questions remain open and may even make us swoon. What helps me personally in such a situation, three things: First, it is the knowledge that we have a just God who sees all this misery and injustice and those responsible will be held to account, God is judge. Second, there is the possibility, I turn to those same God in prayer and to pray for the suffering people: "God is Savior. And third is helping me a question that arises for me personally, what I can do concretely to the affected people and ensure that such a situation not repeated elsewhere?
